Spark Mentee Spotlight with Vicky Kamga

Vicky Kamga is a senior at Benjamin Banneker Academic High School, who started at Spark the Journey in the fall of 2023.

Why did you decide to get involved with Spark the Journey?

I decided to get involved with Spark the Journey because I wanted to join a program to help me accomplish my academic goals.

In what ways has Spark the Journey impacted your life?

Spark the Journey has impacted my life by helping me explore different college and career paths, which led me to find what fits best for me.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

In my free time I enjoy drawing, listening to music or audiobooks, and riding my bike outside.

If you could meet anyone, past or present, who would it be?

If I could meet anyone, past or present, it would be Michael Jackson because he is part of musical history and was widely known for his music, activism, and generosity.

What activities do you like to do with your mentor?

I like to go out and eat with my mentor and talk about school and work.

What’s a dream you would like to achieve?

A dream I would like to achieve is financial stability and generational wealth.

How is your mentor helping you achieve that dream?

Spark is helping me achieve this goal by providing different career opportunities as well as resources for keeping my finances stable.

What’s the most important thing you’ve learned so far in your time with Spark?

This most important thing that I’ve learned so far is that time is money and I should take advantage of all the resources I receive, because it will help me achieve my goals and dreams for the future.
