What made you want to work at Spark the Journey?

I really admired the work that Spark the Journey was doing – mentorship is such a powerful & valuable tool for young people. As soon as I started speaking with current members of the team, I could see the passion that everyone had for the mission and knew that I wanted to work alongside such dedicated people!

Who’s a person in your life that ignited a spark in your journey?

My high school guidance counselor / cross country coach – she really pushed me out of my comfort zone while also providing me with a lot of encouragement. She’s someone I really admire and am grateful that she took the time to mentor me throughout my high school years!

I attended Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland where I received a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. My favorite thing about WAC was the small size – I really felt like I was part of a community both with my fellow students and my professors! I also loved being so close to the Chester River.

I love anything outdoors! I recently ran a marathon and had a great time doing my long runs all over DC. I also love hiking, reading, and visiting museums!

If you could meet anyone, past or present, who would it be?

Malala Yousafzai – I read her book a few years ago and really admire her passion and strength.

What three traits define you?

I think three traits that define me are kind, determined, and thoughtful.
