Angie Lotfi is the Development Manager at Spark the Journey and leads many activities of the development team, including the execution of goals and strategies for all fundraising campaigns. She focuses on generating revenue, promoting growth, and strengthening relationships in areas such as individual giving, corporate funding, database management, grants project management, as well as special events and cross-departmental logistics.
What made you want to work at Spark the Journey?
The impact Spark is making to better the lives of young adults from low-income households while empowering them to fulfill their professional goals and dreams.
Who’s a person in your life that ignited a spark in your journey?
My mom. She’s resourceful and did the best she could with what she had.
What college did you attend, and what was your favorite thing about it?
Indiana University – Fort Wayne; it was an opportunity to move to a larger city than I had been living, where I could still get a good education, and be close to home.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I enjoy the arts, museums, theater, music, culinary experiences, traveling, being outdoors, tending to my plants, antiquing, and spending time with my family.
If you could meet anyone, past or present, who would it be?
Bea Arthur. Not only was she brilliant in her role as Dorothy in Golden Girls, but she was also an advocate of equal rights for women, the LGBTQ community, as well as other marginalized groups.
What three traits define you?
Tenacity, integrity, empathy.
What’s the most rewarding aspect about your role at Spark the Journey?
When I hear success stories about our mentees, what Spark’s program meant to them, and how they’re giving back today.
What’s your favorite part about working at Spark the Journey?
Working with my colleagues. They are supportive, funny, and passionate about the difference they’re making.
